EvolveLimo coach waiting for a group during an as-directed charter

Hourly / As-Directed

Hourly & As-Directed Group Transportation

A vehicle and driver held for your group, on your schedule — for days that don't fit a fixed A-to-B booking.

When the plan is a day, not a route.

Some days cannot be described as a pickup and a drop-off: a roadshow with five client offices, a film or production crew moving between locations, a family celebration with an uncertain end time, or an executive group whose afternoon changes at lunch. Hourly and as-directed charters solve that by booking time rather than a route.

You book a block of hours, the vehicle stays with the group, and the driver takes direction during the day. We still ask for a rough plan so we can send the right vehicle and the right driver — but nothing about that plan is locked.

Common uses

What groups book hourly

Executive roadshows

Multiple client or investor meetings in a day, with the vehicle waiting between stops.

Off-site programs

Team days with several venues, where timings move as the agenda runs.

Wine country days

Tasting days where a long lunch or extra stop should not break the itinerary.

Production and crew moves

Location work where the call sheet decides the route.

Celebrations and nights out

Evenings with an uncertain finish, quoted with the end-of-night run included.

VIP and guest hosting

A vehicle on standby for visiting clients, speakers or family.

How pricing works

We do not publish per-trip prices, because hours, distance, date and vehicle all change the total. Every charter is quoted individually — call or request a quote and you get a written figure.

  • Quoted against the vehicle's hourly rate and hourly minimum
  • Longer days lower the effective hourly cost
  • Mileage beyond the Bay Area, tolls and bridge crossings added at cost
  • Parking and venue access fees passed through at cost
  • Weekends, holidays and peak weeks price differently
  • Overnight and multi-day itineraries include driver lodging and required rest periods

Frequently asked questions

What does as-directed mean?

The vehicle and driver stay with your group for a booked block of hours and go where you direct during that time, instead of driving a fixed route between two addresses.

How is an hourly charter quoted?

Against the vehicle's hourly rate and hourly minimum for your date. Longer days lower the effective hourly cost. Mileage outside the Bay Area, tolls, bridge crossings and parking are added at cost.

What happens if the day runs long?

Extra time is charged in line with your confirmed quote. Tell the driver as soon as you know, so dispatch can check the vehicle is not committed to a later trip.

Can we change the stops during the day?

Yes — that is the point of as-directed. Large changes in distance can affect the final total, so the driver will flag anything that moves the trip well outside the plan.

What group sizes work hourly?

Anything across 8–56 passengers. Executive Sprinters suit small teams; minibuses and motorcoaches cover larger groups on the same hourly basis.

Does the driver stay with the group?

Yes. The vehicle is held for your group for the booked hours, subject to the rest periods required for commercial drivers.
